Economic Depression takes its toll on the community. The hospital recorded its busiest year with 1,200 patients receiving treatment. The first hospital auxiliaries were established. They worked tirelessly to provide the hospital with items such as blankets, towels, booms, washing bowls, lino, felt, pickles, saucepans, milk and butter dishes, cutlery, fruit and vegetables, medicine bottles, calico, jugs, lamps, plates, jam, soap and dripping (volunteers such as 1,070 lbs of jam).
The Chinese market gardeners provided the hospital with fresh vegetables.
