What we do

We diagnose and treat a range of infectious diseases, including:

Orthopaedic infections, assessment and prevention of infection in immunocompromised patients, management of drug-resistant infections, HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections, viral hepatitis including Hepatitis C Rx, vaccine preventable diseases and TB, and assessment of antibiotic allergy.

How to access this clinic

You will need a referral letter from your GP or medical specialist to access this service.

All referrals must include medications list and recent test results.

Your doctor will need to fax, or send your referral electronically, or you can bring it into the clinic. When your referral is received it will be reviewed by the consulting team and categorised based on clinical urgency.

You will then be notified of your clinical urgency category and expected wait time for your appointment.

The demand on the infectious Disease Clinic is high, consequently, waiting times for this clinic can be quite lengthy.

While every attempt will be made to provide you with the earliest possible appointment, the most urgent patients are given priority.

What to bring

  • Your Medicare card
  • A list of medications you are currently taking including herbal supplements and vitamins
  • Any relevant test results or x-ray results
  • Any relevant cards (Medicare, Health Care Card, Aged Pension, DVA)

Your appointment

Our Specialist Clinics is located in Echuca Regional Health, Building E, 25 Francis Street Echuca.

There is 2-hour parking on-street parking in Francis St and Leichardt St. Clearly signed disabled parking is also available.

A text message reminder will be sent to your mobile the day prior to your appointment.

Please present to main reception desk on arrival to let staff know you have arrived.

Fees

This clinic is a public funded out-patients clinic – there is no out of pocket fee for this clinic.
