Mixed Wards
ERH has nominated two wards as ‘mixed ratio’ wards, Maternity Ward and Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
- The Maternity Ward has a mix of maternity and surgical patients
- There are 2 Birthing Rooms staffed 24 hours a day with trained and experienced midwives including an ‘on-call’ midwife
- There are a total of 8 occupied beds in the mixed ward; 5 maternity and 3 surgical.
- The following table outlines the unique ratio applied to each care type and the staffing required as per the Safe Patient Care (SPC) Act.
- There are no expected changes to this during the following 6-month period.
- Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit has a total of 20 occupied beds (6 Rehabilitation; 8 GEM; 2 Palliative Care; 4 TCP)
- The following table outlines the unique ratio applied to each care type and the staffing required as per the Safe Patient Care (SPC) Act.
- There are no expected changes to this during the following 6-month period.
